Luzar Water Coolant
Description
Superior cooling, improved heat transfer, enhanced system performance whilst reducing energy costs.
By maximizing heat transfer, greater power output can be achieved from the same equipment, or smaller units can be used to deliver the same power output.
Luzar® Water Coolant contains a comprehensive range of wetting agents to maximize contact between hot metals and the liquid, thereby achieving maximum heat dissipation.
Formulated with a full antioxidant package based on organic acid technology (OAT) to deliver optimum performance and extended service life.
Check the condition of the fluid at a glance; the pH-sensitive color will change from yellow to red if the pH falls below the recommended limit.

Corrosion protection
Water has corrosive properties when in contact with certain materials commonly used in thermal circuits.
The results of the tests carried out in accordance with ASTM D 1384, which assess the effect of corrosion on different metals, are shown below.
| Material | Luzar® Water Coolant | ASTM D 3306 max. |
|---|---|---|
| Copper | 1.4 | 10 |
| Soldering | 0.8 | 30 |
| Brass | 1.3 | 10 |
| Steel | 0.2 | 10 |
| Cast iron | 0.1 | 10 |
| Aluminum | 7.4 | 30 |
The results correspond to the average change in the weight of the test specimen in mg. A negative figure indicates an increase in weight due to the formation of a stable protective layer on the metal’s surface.
Luzar® Water Coolant has been tested undiluted, but with the addition of corrosive salts.

Directions for use
Before filling, the circuit must be rinsed with water to remove scale, assembly residues and flux residues, particularly where fluxes containing chlorides, fluorides or borax have been used.
Drain the circuit completely and immediately fill it with Luzar® Water Coolant. Periods during which the circuit is empty may affect the materials present, causing corrosion and premature ageing of the seals.
The product is ready for direct use in the system; it must not be diluted with water or mixed with other fluids, as this would compromise its anti-corrosion properties. To enquire about specific compatibilities, please contact our technical department by email: carpemar@carpemar.com.
In the case of a circuit already in use, after draining the previous coolant, the circuit must be flushed with water to remove sediment and particles before filling the system with Luzar® Water Coolant. Existing corrosion can significantly shorten the product’s service life. If corrosion is detected, measures must be taken to rectify it before filling the system. Depending on the condition of the previous fluid, it is recommended to clean the circuit before filling, for example, with Luzar® Clean Cool.
It is recommended that the circuit be properly bled after commissioning to remove any air pockets.
Avoid prolonged periods of system inactivity, as this may affect the product’s stability and significantly reduce its service life.
Operating temperature
The product is stable within the temperature range of 0 °C to 100 °C. Higher temperatures may be reached depending on the system pressure.
In the case of open systems or those where oxygen enters (for example, via valves), the maximum temperature is lower.
Maintenance – Service life
The service life of Luzar® Water Coolant is at least five years in a closed circuit operating between 0 °C and 100 °C. Practical experience shows that the fluid does not degrade under the operating conditions described in this section, resulting in a longer service life.
To check the product’s performance, the most important parameters are pH and refractive index measurements. It is recommended that this monitoring procedure be carried out annually.
The appropriate pH range is between 7.5 and 9.0. Outside this range, the product should be analyzed to determine the cause and the course of action to be taken.
Dosage
Precautions
Luzar® Water Coolant is a non-toxic, non-flammable and non-corrosive product.
It is recommended that good industrial practices regarding the use of chemicals be followed in all cases. Wash your hands and forearms before eating, drinking or smoking after using the product.
Avoid contact with the eyes. Do not swallow or drink. Keep out of the reach of children.
When stored in its original, tightly sealed packaging at temperatures between 5 and 35 °C, away from direct sunlight, the product retains its properties for at least 24 months.
